At the age of 34, he will take his first steps in IMOCA, for a new double-handed project, 100% Swiss.
Born in Zurich, with a degree in electronics, Simon Koster first went to dinghy school before being attracted by the open sea. For a long time, he competed in the ISAF Junior World Championships and training camps with the national team. But he was not attracted enough by the classic Olympic circuit and quickly gave up racing between three buoys to escape to the sea. It was on the ocean racing pontoons that the young Swiss-German learned to speak French, when he moved to Brittany and started sailing in the Mini 6.50. Three participations in the Mini Transat and two podiums later, Simon tried his hand at Class40 for three seasons, double-handed and then single-handed, where his results impressed.
