Thomas Ruyant: "Nothing is set in stone!"
“Now, we're in pretty nice conditions.”
Thomas Ruyant: Hi everyone, we're in pretty nice conditions. We're under the sun in 10 knots of wind, downwind, with all the canvas. It's slipping along gently, but it's pretty nice. The first 24 hours were downwind breezes, recching, meadows and a slightly short sea, so it was pretty rough. So right now, it feels good. We've been maneuvering quite a bit since the start. Now the conditions are really pleasant. Everything's going well on board.
I made a few errors of trajectory at the start. I had to stop the boat for a while to get out of a net, so now I'm trying not to lose contact. The fleet's still pretty tightly bunched, so it's nice.
We've all been able to gauge each other in a lot of different conditions. It's been a really interesting race. I'm also happy to be able to spend a few more nights at sea, and do some solo maneuvers. Anticipating all that is really pleasant and interesting for what lies ahead. Right now, we're going to continue downwind as far as Way point Azimuth 4. After that, we'll be back upwind, and there's still a lot to come. We're going to end up crossing a small windless area, and the fleet could pick up a bit behind us, so I'm hanging in there, there's still a long way to go. Nothing's done yet!"
