Alexia Barrier

Alexia, from the Mediterranean Sea, started sailing at a very early age. Sailing teacher at 15, she worked in the sailing yachting industry as co-skipper or crew, while studying Sports Management at Nice University of Sports, UFR-STAPS.

She became a professional sailor, a world-class Match Racing regatta sailor, and began single-handed offshore racing. In 20 years, she has already sailed more than 120,000 miles around the world and participated in 15 transatlantic races, including five single-handed races in Mini Transat, Figaro 2, IMOCA monohull and multihull.

In 2009, she created 4myplanet and became the first woman to attempt a single-handed round-the-world voyage for the benefit of science in IMOCA with the former UUNET. Five months of navigation and 20 000 miles covered to bring back more than 1 million surface water data to European ocean observation programs and more than 10 000 4myplanet kids followed this navigation in France, Monaco, South Africa, Brazil and New York.

His sports career continues in various media: Figaro Bénéteau 2, SuperYacht, 6mJI, match racing. Eclectic, she sails alongside the best: Dennis Conner, Florence Arthaud, Peter Holmberg, Andy Beadworth ... In 2013, she won the Maxi Transatlantique with a crew. In 2014, she is 3rd in the Transat AG2R la Mondiale.

Today, the yachtswoman has completed her first Vendée Globe in 111 days with her 1998 Lombard design, a legendary boat that now has seven round-the-world races under her belt.
